Product Review: Smashbox Halo Hydrating Perfecting Powder

Smashbox Halo Hydrating Powder:  This powder claims to reduce the site of wrinkles as well as hydrate skin. The packaging of the product comes with a twist top that shaves "fresh" powder for every use and a kabuki brush for application.  Product is classified as a mineral powder.

Verdict:  I have been using this powder daily for about two months now and I love it!!  I feel like it does help in retaining moisture in my skin and reduce the appearance of fine wrinkles, but my favorite part is it gives your skin a pearly glow.  It is light-weight with great coverage, which means I can wear this powder on its own.

Cons: A bit pricey, but it seems that one container will go a long way.  A bit messy to travel with if you do not use all the powder you shave off after every use.  Also, I am not a big kabuki brush user (more on that later) so the brush included was not a plus for me.

Have you used this product? Let me know what you think!

Ashley's Wedding Look

I had the opportunity to do Ashley's makeup for her wedding a few weeks ago.  These amazing shots were taken by Stephanie Williams, and as you can see, the bride has plenty of natural beauty:

Ashley, her mother, and bridesmaids were all so fun to work with that day.  You could tell there was a lot of history with this group of girls, they had tons to laugh about the whole time they were getting ready together.

They look so glamorous here:

More shots of the wedding, but mostly of the bride looking pretty:

The Look:  Ashley doesn't normally wear a lot of makeup, so she didn't want to wear a lot on her wedding day, and since she has perfect skin, it wasn't hard to get away with less makeup.  She has amazing eyes, so of course we wanted to play those up, so we used a combination of vanilla, shell pink and soft brown eye shadows to add definition to her lids.  We lined and shaped the rims of her eyes with black gel eyeliner, applied with a brush and added voluminous false lashes to really give her eyes that extra "wow" factor.  We used a very pink blush to highlight those striking cheekbones and finished the look with a mauve lip liner and lipgloss.

We had such a great time working with Ashley and all her friends, thank you for letting us be a part of your beautiful day!

Check out more shots of the wedding on Stephanie's site here.  Also, special thanks to Amorology Weddings, as always you are so great to work with!
